Monday night marked the first night of the most coveted of the early fall events: season premiers. Last year television was host to some of the biggest cliff hangers.
On Grey's Anatomy, the interns helped plan a hospital-wide prom for Chief Webber's niece who had missed her own prom because she was admitted to Seattle Grace. Burke recovered slowly from a gunshot wound and worried about his future as a surgeon. Callie confronted George about his feelings for her and Adele, the chief's wife, made hers perfectly clear to her husband and admitted she knew about an affair he had long ago with Ellis Grey. Meredith, intimidated by looks from Derek Shepherd fled from the prom with Derek on her heels. They exchanged words in the exam room before finally giving into their true feelings for each other and making love. Denny, a patient saved by a heart transplant, proposed to Izzie, who was unsure of what to say. Izzie, ready to accept Denny's proposal, arrived to find that Denny had died. Ignoring the interns' attempts to comfort her she reported to the chief and Dr. Bailey and quit the intern program. Meredith, reeling from the entire night, turned around ready to leave only to be confronted by both of the men she loved: Finn, the vet she had been dating, and Derek, her McDreamy.
On Veronica Mars, Veronica graduated and single handedly solved the mystery of "who crashed a field trip school bus" and then raced against time to save her best friend Mac from the same fate. Having wrongly believed her father was dead, she woke up to find that he was in fact alive and that her ex, Logan, had taken care of her. She quickly reunited with Logan and set off for the airport to wait for her father. As he was about to leave, Keith Mars was visited by Kendall Casablancas with a suitcase and "an offer he couldn't refuse." Veronica, who had no cell service at the gate, was then stood up at the airport waiting for her father.
On Smallville, Lex became the vessel for Zod, of which Professor Fine had orchestrated. On board the Luthor Jet, Lois and Martha were powerless to do anything when they found out they were hurtling towards mountains. When it came down to it, Clark couldn't kill Lex and instead killed Fine, which opened the portal to Zod, who took a hold of Lex. The Earth was starting to have blackouts while Chloe and Lionel were stuck in his Limo amidst a riot. While all of this was breaking loose Clark was being held, suspended, inside the Phantom Zone.
