Like most soccer games, the fans were into the action on the field and everyone knew it, especially the officials. Screams from the fans haunted the officials all night long because of their questionable officiating. There was more than one instance in which many thought there should have been a foul but nothing was called (like when an Albright player had the ball taken away from him and pushed an FSU player down on the ground, but nothing was called).
The officials weren't just hastled about what they didn't call, but for what they did call. They gave a yellow card to an FSU player for slightly moving the ball directly after the official placed it on the ground following a foul on FSU.
"I just wish [the Officials] were a little more consistant and had a tighter grasp on the game," said Frostburg Head Coach Keith Burns.
There is no doubt that the officiating was questionable, but the score of the game was unquestionable, 2-0.
Frostburg dominated the game, holding Albright to just thirteen shots on goal, less than half as many shots as Frostburg took (twenty-eight). Frostburg State Senior Goal Keeper Derek Richardson didn't even have to make a save until the second half of the game.
But it wasn't just the Bobcat defense doing a great job, the offense also took twenty-eight shots and scored twice. Leading the Bobcats in the scoring category was Junior midfielder Kenny Dotter who scored both times, once in the first half assisted by forward Jeff Bisker and a second time in the second half unassisted making the final score 2-0.
The Bobcats's record is now 2-4 with two shutouts while Albright falls to 2-2-1.
"I think we created good opportunities on offense," said Burns, "I'm pleased with the way our offense played."
