Unearth's "III In the Eyes of Fire"

Unearth was formed in 1998 in Boston, Massachusetts; quickly building a strong following when they began touring with bands such as Slipknot and Lamb of God. On Unearth's third release III: In the Eyes of Fire their sound is filled with energy but is still sometimes lacking in the variety and originality departments. This album has succeeded in combining old school styling with new aggression and new school production. They have replaced the melodic parts and harmonies found on previous releases with long and sometimes boring breakdowns. It does, however, include some excellent guitar riffs, unstoppable drumming, and assailing vocals without any melodic pleasantries. Some of the best tracks include: "Giles", "This Glorious Nightmare", "Unstoppable" and "So It Goes". There are ten songs and one closing instrumental (now seems to be prominent on most metal records lately). While the members of Unearth are talented musicians, there are still a few things keeping Unearth back; hopefully by their next release they will be able to correct these flaws.
