Issue date: 9/13/06 Section: News
Dr. Jonathan Gibralter is wasting no time. He is making serious changes at Frostburg State University, while fitting in to the small city life.

Gibralter started his tenure on August 2nd, moving in officially about a month later, but still preparing for his first year at Frostburg. He commented on the enjoyable aspects of his new home, and of the changes he had to make coming from the big city.

"My adjustment is going very well" said Gibralter. "Obviously, moving from Long Island to Frostburg is a big change, but I find people to be very welcoming here. I'm really glad to be here."

With the arrival of President Gibralter has come some reassignments of administration officials. Some top university officials, including Dr. Alice Manicur and Roger Bruszewski, have been reassigned to different positions on campus. Dr. Manicur was reassigned to Special Advisor to the President, while Bruszewski was reassigned to Vice President of Special Projects.

"A new president coming into any institution has the responsibility to bring on a team of administrators that individual is most comfortable working with" said Gibralter. "I'm filling all positions really from scratch."

The rumor mill abounds at Frostburg, however, and a fairly substantial one appeared regarding Roger Bruszewski's reassignment as well. It is believed by some that Mr. Bruszewski was shown off campus by University Police following his reassignment in accordance with a university policy that an administrator in a sensitive position be escorted from university grounds. President Gibralter denied these rumors as "absolutely not true". University Police declined comment on the matter, or the policy in general.

As President Gibralter takes over this year, he takes over some remaining problems from last year, one of which is enrollment. According to a budget report from Student Involvement, enrollment is listed at around 3900 full-time undergraduate students, which is down from the average of 4500.
