In addition to five freshmen, the Lady Bobcats welcome Anna Sidorenko as their head coach for the 2006 season.
Sidorenko was the graduate assistant coach last year. She is working very closely with the Bobcats to prepare them for the season that lies ahead. To assist in their preparation a stricter academic policy, difficult drills and timed runs have been incorporated in the team's daily routine. Sidorenko is hopeful that these particular changes will encourage the Bobcats to not just play another team but compete against another team; to not just go out and play but to go out and win.
This type of mentality will further ensure a victory over Salisbury, their most anticipated game.
"Pure love for the game is what brings them out there everyday," said Sidorenko.
With every practice their passing game grows stronger. Each member of the team contributes something different. The newest teammates offer a promising future.
"The team is very skilled," said Sidorenko. "We have a very strong freshmen class."
The team continually grows closer with one another. The captains work to maintain this bond by arranging activities such as the entire team going to the movie theater. The team possesses a number of qualities that offer endless possibilities.
Whatever the 2006 season may bring, Sidorenko asks the Bobcats to abide by the following rules: family first, education second and field hockey third.
The Lady Bobcats play their first home game on Tuesday, September 12 against Bridgewater.
