Dr. Jonathan Gibralter, President of FSU

Dear FSU Students:

I want to personally welcome you to another exciting academic year at Frostburg State University. Like many of you who are freshmen, this too is my freshman year at FSU. So far, I have found the community and our students to truly be welcoming and I am grateful for your thoughtfulness. I look forward to seeing you out and about on campus and also hope to see you at university-wide events, athletic events, campus activities, etc. All of these activities will dramatically enrich your lives and I hope you will become involved.

Here is my advice to you as you begin this semester. First of all, study hard and get good grades. If you are having a hard time, seek out your teachers and tutors to assist you. Remember, the semester is only 16 weeks long and if you procrastinate in getting assistance it is very likely that you will not do well as time passes very quickly.

Secondly, remember that you are guests in this community. As such, whether you are on or off campus I expect that your behavior will always be to treat people and our community with respect. Treat people the way you would want to be treated and you will be fine.

Third, get involved in university life. This is a rich campus community with a lot to do. Getting involved will be good for you and for us as well.

Finally, get to know your faculty, staff and administrators. We all want to know you. We want to be a part of your lives and will go out of our way to assist you. Remember, my door is always open and I hope that you will take the opportunity to walk through it. Have a great semester and I look forward to meeting you on campus.
