Tuesday, May 5th was an important day for the select few who were honored at the FSU Leadership Awards. These awards are for individuals or organizations that have demonstrated extraordinary leadership qualities in any form; whether it be volunteer work, environmental awareness, or for the general good of the student body. In 2005, a Government Accountability Office report estimated that textbooks cost the average university student about $900 per year. These textbooks are often bulky and quite heavy; a literal burden on students' backs. Amazon.com has released a new version of Kindle, an electronic paper display which seeks to replace the traditional textbook for students. (13) comments

In late March, the world found itself on the fringes of a H1N1 (swine flu) pandemic. Believed to have originated from the Mexico area, this disease is a respiratory disease of pigs caused by Type A Influenza that causes regular outbreaks in pigs. As of May 4th, there were 279 confirmed cases across 36 American states. (0) comments

Frostburg State University had 59 teams, 818 participants and one amazing night. The participants come from all walks of life: faculty, students, friends, family, and staff, but they all unite on this one night to achieve a common goal: find a cure for cancer. (0) comments
