For many students, deciding whether to live on campus or off campus is a tough decision. Living on campus usually conjures up images of annoying roommates, close quarters, and those public bathrooms, while living off campus usually makes people think of ultimate freedom, single rooms, and private bathing facilities. Every September since 1982, the American Library Association has launched an assertive, First Amendment-based campaign to highlight the downright necessity of preserving the freedom to read. This September marked the 27th annual Banned Books Week, a series of school and library events throughout the country that encourages "the freedom to express one's opinion, even if that opinion might be considered unorthodox or unpopular. Homecoming couldn't have started on a better note than the All Campus Sing in the Pealer Recital Hall Friday night. Despite the slip in introduction of president Gibralter and his "wife", the program was one that everyone could enjoy. The support given to the brothers and sisters of different sororities and fraternities was phenomenal. (1) comment
